Gary Rowett requests additional transfer funds for Oxford United

Gary Rowett, Oxford United manager, has submitted a request for additional transfer funds to the club management after successfully saving the team from Championship relegation.

The U’s — Oxford United’s nickname — finished the 2024/25 season in 17th position in the Championship table with 53 points, just four points above the relegation zone.

The club owned by Indonesian businessmen — Anindya Bakrie and Erick Thohir — now faces the challenge of strengthening their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

“If we want to maintain performance like the second half of this season, we certainly need to increase the budget,” Rowett told Oxford Mail.

“This always depends on the owners and leadership team,” he added.
