Gareth Bale interested in buying his hometown club Cardiff City

Gareth Bale confirms his involvement in a group attempting to acquire Cardiff City — the club from his hometown.

After an unsuccessful bid to purchase Plymouth Argyle with a U.S. consortium, the former Real Madrid player has now turned his attention to the League One club.

“We are interested in getting Cardiff. It’s my home club, where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them,” Bale revealed during an interview at the “F1: The Movie” premiere red carpet.

“Cardiff is a club close to my heart. I want to be part of developing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League — where it belongs,” he added.

Cardiff City — relegated from the Premier League six years ago — has just dropped to League One after competing in the Championship since 2019.
