Underdog G2 Esports Topples Sentinels to Claim VCT Americas 2025 Title

This Monday morning (5/5), the underdog North American Valorant squad G2 Esports triumphed over Sentinels to secure the VCT Americas 2025: Stage 1 championship title. This victory marks their second Americas title following their Kickoff win in February.

The series began on Haven, where G2 launched an aggressive offensive. In-game leader Jacob “valyn” Batio rallied his teammates to pressure Sentinels, toppling the North American giants 13-9. G2 replicated the same  scoreline in Game 2 on Split.

With their backs against the wall, Sentinels fought back fiercely on Pearl in Game 3. However, their victory was hard-earned as G2 turned the second half into a close one, narrowing the deficit to a final 13-10 score in Sentinels’ favor.

Sentinels’ momentum proved short-lived, as G2 ultimately seized control of Ascent with a dramatic 13-10 win. The decisive match saw both teams locked in intense gunfights, but G2’s tactical flexibility and strategic utility usage proved superior.

As it stands, G2 has secured a direct berth to the Masters Toronto playoffs and earned significant circuit points to bolster their path toward Champions Paris 2025. Given their current form, G2 is poised to challenge established VCT powerhouses from outside North America circuit.
