In a recent interview, G2 Esports CEO Alban “Stilgar” Dechelotte opened up about the difficulties of constructing a CS2 roster for the organization while still relying on the young prodigy Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.

Via HLTV, Stilgar criticized m0NESY, stating that the player has been challenging to collaborate with in shaping the CS2 team to meet the organization’s needs. Specifically, he emphasized that the squad should have been built around the young Russian star as its core, and the team had done everything possible to ensure his comfort.

“M0NESY was at the heart of the G2 project. We tried to make him happy.

Ilya is famous for saying, “let me play CS,” that’s what he told us every time, and he said he wasn’t ready for a decision. I respect that, but some players are more decisive in building a roster around them. Zywoo got ropz to join him, I wish Ilya did the same for us, but he did not.”

Additionally, Stilgar also addressed similar issues with former G2 player Nikola “Niko” Kovač. He revealed that NiKo had contacted the management of Falcons months before his eventual departure from G2 in early 2025.
