FSG plans to acquire La Liga club as Liverpool’s ‘sister’ team

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) led by John W Henry — Liverpool’s owner — plans to expand their football club network by following the path of Manchester City and Chelsea owners.

FSG is targeting Real Madrid’s city rival in La Liga as a potential acquisition target — this move aims to create a player development hub for Liverpool’s main team.

Before eyeing the Spanish club, FSG approached two other clubs — Bordeaux from France and Malaga from Spain, but interest in both clubs eventually faded.
