Frank van Kempen appointed as new Indonesia U-20 national team coach

Erick Thohir, Chairman of PSSI, announced the appointment of Dutch coach — Frank van Kempen as the new coach of Indonesia U-20 national team replacing Indra Sjafri.

“Coach Frank has extensive experience as a coach, particularly at youth level including as Assistant Coach for Netherlands U-23, U-20 and U-17 national teams,” stated Erick Thohir through his personal Instagram account.

Van Kempen has an impressive track record — serving as a coaching instructor for UEFA A, B, and C licenses at KNVB since 2014. The Dutch coach will also serve as assistant coach for Indonesia U-23 national team under Gerald Vanenburg for the upcoming ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 and U-23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers.

“With Coach Frank’s presence, we aim to build the U-20 national team’s strength to be better prepared for the next level and compete at higher levels,” added Erick Thohir.
