Franco Colapinto struggles to adapt to 2025 Alpine F1 car

Franco Colapinto — the 22-year-old Argentine driver — continues to struggle finding optimal performance with the challenging 2025 Alpine F1 car.

After replacing Jack Doohan post-Miami GP, Colapinto hasn’t managed to finish higher than 13th position — reflecting his difficulties adapting to the A525’s characteristics.

His teammate Pierre Gasly faces similar challenges, though he secured the team’s best result with sixth place at the British GP. “The car is very tricky and easy to make mistakes,” Gasly revealed.

Alpine currently sits last in the constructor standings with 19 points — a situation compounded by the team’s focus on developing their 2026 car.

Technical director David Sanchez explained the team’s strategy: “We know there are big opportunities in 2026. We may not have been pushing development this season as deep as others.”

Despite uncertainty about his position with the team, Colapinto remains optimistic. “I just need to keep working and trying to help the team improve the car,” he stated calmly.
