First-Half Stats: Indonesia U-23 Dominant but Still Goalless

he first half of the decisive Group A match between Indonesia U-23 and Malaysia U-23 ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Despite no goals, Indonesia clearly dominated possession and ball distribution.

Indonesia controlled 71 percent of possession with 270 total passes and an impressive 90 percent passing accuracy. Gerald Vanenburg’s squad recorded six shots, two of which were on target.

Malaysia, meanwhile, held just 29 percent possession, completing 107 passes with 72 percent accuracy. They managed four shot attempts but none troubled the Indonesian goalkeeper.

Both teams played with high intensity, receiving two yellow cards each in the first 45 minutes. Indonesia also had the edge in corner kicks with 3 to Malaysia’s 1 but has yet to turn their dominance into a lead.
