First Day of Japan Open 2025: Six Seeds Eliminated in Round of 32

The Japan Open 2025 kicked off with several surprises at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Japan. The first day of round of 32 witnessed the elimination of six seeded players — four of them from Indonesia.

Jonatan Christie — fourth seed from Indonesia — had to acknowledge the superiority of home representative Kenta Nishimoto in a match that lasted 45 minutes. The PB Tangkas trained player lost in straight games.

A similar fate befell top seed from Thailand, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, who could not overcome the challenge from Chinese player Weng Hong Yang. This defeat added to the list of seeded players eliminated in the early round of this BWF Super 750 tournament.
