Finger injury puts Shoaib Bashir’s Old Trafford appearance in doubt

Shoaib Bashir — England’s spinner sustained a left little finger injury on the third day of the Test Match against India at Lord’s.

The incident occurred when Bashir was bowling to Ravindra Jadeja — a powerful drive struck his hand directly. Following the impact, he immediately signaled to the team’s dressing room about his injury which appeared to be a dislocation. Joe Root subsequently completed the over.

England’s medical team continues to monitor Bashir’s condition who attempted bowling with strapped fourth and fifth fingers before the start of day four. The decision about his batting role will be determined later.

  • Liam Dawson
  • Jack Leach
  • Rehan Ahmed

The above players are replacement options if Bashir cannot play at Old Trafford. So far in this series, Bashir has collected nine wickets at an average of 59.44, including KL Rahul‘s wicket on day three at Lord’s.
