Filipe Luis acknowledges European dominance after Flamengo’s loss to Bayern Munich

Filipe Luis, Flamengo’s coach, acknowledged European football superiority after his team suffered a 4-2 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup round of 16.

Bayern Munich — who dominated from the start — scored twice within the first 10 minutes. Although Flamengo managed to respond with two goals, the German side maintained control throughout the match.

“The pressure they put on is immense. They attack with eight to ten players. They deserved to win,” stated Filipe Luis, who previously played for Atletico Madrid.

“If Vinicius Junior hadn’t moved to Real Madrid, we would have had the world’s best player in our team. European teams have the best players — that’s a fact,” he added.

Bayern Munich’s coach, Vincent Kompany, offered a different perspective on this quality gap. “I’m not sure if it’s that black and white. Some of the world’s best finishers come from South America. South American teams have football in their blood,” he explained.

This victory advances Bayern Munich to the quarter-finals where they will face Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.
