Erick Thohir Reveals FIFA’s Stance on Away Fans in Liga 1

FIFA Yet to Approve Away Fan Attendance

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has disclosed that FIFA has not yet approved the return of away supporters for the upcoming Liga 1 season.

Responsibility for crowd management will remain with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) and the participating clubs.

New App Launched But Awaiting Approval

PT LIB recently launched the Sobat Liga app, designed with features to facilitate away fan attendance. However, its implementation is stalled due to ongoing FIFA restrictions, which have been in place since the Kanjuruhan tragedy two and a half years ago.

Safety Remains FIFA’s Top Priority

“FIFA and PSSI still see that the risk level of home and away matches remains high,” said Erick Thohir.

Although FIFA’s monitoring period will officially conclude this May, safety concerns remain a major factor in determining whether away fans will be allowed back into stadiums.
