FIA reverses Buemi’s Jakarta E-Prix penalty, podium restored

The FIA has reversed the penalty given to Sebastien Buemi at the Jakarta E-Prix — restoring the third-place podium position to the Envision Racing driver.

This decision came after Envision team filed an appeal with additional evidence — including roll hoop camera footage and telemetry data showing Buemi maintained control during the incident with Edoardo Mortara at Turn 13.

Envision team successfully proved that the Swiss driver had completed the overtaking maneuver before reaching the corner apex. After hearing testimony from both teams and involved drivers, stewards determined no party was predominantly at fault in the incident.

In contrast to Oliver Rowland‘s case from Nissan team — appeal for 5-second penalty was rejected due to incident with Maximilian Gunther that resulted in DS Penske car damage.

With this decision, Buemi secures his second podium this season after Monaco victory — moving him to 10th position in the 2024/25 Formula E championship standings.
