Ferrari Denies Technical Advantage Claims After Le Mans Disqualification

According to Ferrari’s official statement, the Italian manufacturer has expressed its surprise regarding the disqualification of its #50 499P Hypercar, which previously finished fourth in Le Mans 24 Hours.

The race stewards’ decision stated that the car failed to comply with technical regulations due to missing four bolts in the rear wing — deemed both unsafe and potentially providing a performance advantage.

Ferrari firmly denies these allegations:

“Given the design of the element, the absence of one or more of these components did not compromise the car’s safety in any way”

Regarding performance, stewards noted a rear wing deflection of 52mm — three and a half times higher than the permitted maximum of 15mm. They also highlighted the #50 car achieving its highest speed on lap 380 of 387 total laps.

The Maranello team disputes any advantage, explaining that the high speeds recorded in the final seven laps were due to the #50 car following in the slipstream of its sister car, the #51 499P.

Ferrari affirms its full confidence in World Endurance Championship regulations, while maintaining that the incident neither provided competitive advantage nor compromised driver safety.
