Fajar/Fikri advance to Japan Open 2025 round of 16 after defeating Sabar/Reza

Indonesia’s new men’s doubles pair, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, successfully advanced to the round of 16 at Japan Open 2025 — marking their debut with a sweet victory.

Playing at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, the Fajar/Fikri duo managed to defeat fellow countrymen Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani with scores of 24-22, 21-12.

“Alhamdulillah, grateful for the smooth performance and victory in our debut,” Fajar expressed through PBSI announcement.

Despite their dominant performance, Fajar acknowledged the need for adjustment to Fikri’s playing style — some positioning errors occurred before they found their best playing rhythm.
