Fabio Quartararo suffers serious crash during Italian GP practice

Fabio Quartararo experienced a serious incident during first practice session of Italian GP at Mugello Circuit — the Yamaha rider crashed after losing control of his bike’s front end at Turn 4.

The 2021 MotoGP world champion suffered a hard impact on his left shoulder when falling into the gravel. Despite shoulder dislocation, Quartararo managed to reset the joint himself at the crash site.

“In the crash, Fabio dislocated his left shoulder, something that has happened to him before. He popped it back into place himself, as he’s done on other occasions,” explained Angel Charte, championship medical director.

After receiving initial treatment and anti-inflammatory medication, the French rider returned to track and managed to secure fifth fastest time — securing his position in Q2 for qualifying session.

Quartararo is now undergoing MRI examination at Florence hospital to assess his condition — his participation in the remainder of weekend will depend on examination results.
