Evan Ferguson Joins AS Roma on Loan from Brighton

AS Roma, as confirmed through the club’s official website, has announced the arrival of Evan Ferguson from Brighton on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The 20-year-old striker started his Brighton career in January 2021 — joining from Irish club Bohemians at age 16. The 2022-23 season marked his best period with 10 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Ferguson’s career trajectory was disrupted by a cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him last season — though he had managed to score a hat-trick against Newcastle United beforehand. Following a loan spell at West Ham in February, the Irish international made eight appearances without finding the net.

At Roma, Ferguson will work under new manager Gian Piero Gasperini — known for successfully developing strikers like Duván Zapata and Luis Muriel during his time at Atalanta.

The Irish player’s arrival was enthusiastically welcomed by Roma supporters who were already waiting at Ciampino Airport even before his medical examination and contract signing.
