Esteban Ocon reveals reasons for leaving Alpine after five years

Driver Esteban Ocon spoke to Motorsport.com in Montreal about his decision to leave Alpine team after five years with the French outfit.

Alpine currently sits at the bottom of the constructors’ standings — a situation worsened by continuous management changes. Following the departures of Otmar Szafnauer and Alan Permane, the team underwent leadership changes until Flavio Briatore took over these responsibilities.

“You never smile to see someone struggling. But to me, it was very clear that I wanted to come here, for a very long time. I took my decision because we were not aiming for the same things with the team,” stated Ocon.

Currently, Ocon has joined Haas team alongside teammate Oliver Bearman. Under Ayao Komatsu’s leadership, Haas holds seventh position in the constructors’ standings — while Ocon himself sits tenth in the drivers’ championship with 20 points.
