Erik ten Hag Agrees to Join Bayer Leverkusen

Erik ten Hag has officially chosen Bayer Leverkusen as his next destination, turning down the opportunity to return to Ajax Amsterdam, as confirmed by renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“Erik ten Hag has said yes to Bayer Leverkusen and will sign a 2-year contract,” Romano revealed via X (formerly Twitter).

Romano also added that Leverkusen had spoken with multiple candidates before finalizing their choice, with Ten Hag making the Bundesliga club his top priority. Meanwhile, Ajax remains in the background, still awaiting further developments.

Ten Hag to Replace History-Maker Xabi Alonso at BayArena

The Dutch tactician will be stepping into big shoes at BayArena, as he is set to replace Xabi Alonso — the Spanish manager who guided Leverkusen to an unbeaten Bundesliga title last season, the first in the club’s history.

Ten Hag, known for his tactical discipline and development of young players, will now be tasked with continuing Leverkusen’s momentum on both domestic and European stages.
