Strategic Timing of PSSI Annual Congress

Erick Thohir, the Chairman of PSSI, has revealed the strategic reasoning behind holding the PSSI Annual Congress close to the Indonesia national team match. According to Thohir, the timing of the congress is meant to coincide with an important event in the football calendar, allowing for better coordination among stakeholders.

Congress to Take Place Just Before Crucial Indonesia vs China World Cup Qualifier

The Annual Congress will be held in Jakarta in early June — just one day before Indonesia’s crucial match against China in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, Asia Group C. The match is scheduled at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium at 20:45 local time. This will mark Indonesia’s ninth game in the current qualification phase.
