Erick Thohir Speaks Out About PSM Makassar Captain’s Protest Controversy

Erick Thohir Responds to Yuran Fernandes’ Controversial Protest

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has responded firmly to the controversy surrounding PSM Makassar captain Yuran Fernandes, who strongly protested referee decisions during a recent Liga 1 clash against PSS Sleman.

The match, held four days ago as part of Liga 1 Matchday 31, ended with a 3-1 win for PSS Sleman, but was overshadowed by allegations of unfair officiating.

Yuran Fernandes was visibly furious—expressing his frustration not only on the pitch, but also during the post-match press conference and across his social media platforms. His statements, deemed offensive by some, triggered backlash for allegedly disrespecting Indonesian football.

“If he regrets it, then don’t play in Indonesia, go play abroad. Don’t make a living here, build a career here, while badmouthing Indonesian League,” said Erick Thohir.

The PSSI Chairman added:

“If there’s evidence, he says, ‘Oh, this referee was paid, this player was paid, that was paid’, we’ll arrest him.”
