Erick Thohir Considers Replacing Ole Romeny

Erick Thohir, President of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), is currently evaluating several candidates to replace Ole Romeny, who has been ruled out of the Indonesia national team due to injury.

The striker suffered a serious injury while playing for Oxford United in a match against Arema FC during the 2025 President’s Cup. The incident occurred after a hard tackle by Paulinho Moccelin.

The Indonesia national team faces a packed schedule — starting with two friendly matches against Kuwait and Lebanon in Surabaya this September, followed by the fourth round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers in Saudi Arabia in October.

Romeny’s absence is a major blow for the Garuda squad, given his crucial role up front. Erick Thohir is now exploring possible replacements — with names like Jens Raven reportedly in contention.
