Erick Thohir highlights narrow victory of U-23 national team over Philippines

Erick Thohir as PSSI Chairman responded to Indonesia U-23 national team’s narrow victory over Philippines at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

The Young Garuda secured three points in their second Group A match of ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 — the 1-0 win came through Jaime Rosquillo’s own goal in the 23rd minute.

The goal originated from a throw-in executed by Robi Darwis, where Rosquillo’s header unfortunately hit the crossbar and went into his own net.

Despite dominating throughout the match, Gerald Vanenburg’s squad struggled to create chances — several threats from Rayhan Hannan and Jens Raven yielded no results.

“There was luck behind Indonesia U-23 national team’s victory against Philippines,” said coach Gerald Vanenburg.
