Erick Thohir expects maximum results from Indonesia National Team in World Cup Qualifiers

Erick Thohir as PSSI Chairman expressed his expectations for the Indonesian national team that will compete in the fourth round of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers — a competition that will be held next October in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The Indonesian national team advanced to the fourth round after finishing fourth in the group standings in the third round. AFC has appointed two West Asian countries as match hosts — although Indonesia had previously also submitted itself as a candidate.

“We all tried. We wanted to be the host but now we will play in Saudi Arabia and Qatar,” said Erick Thohir to media in Senayan area, Jakarta.

The PSSI Chairman who also serves as Minister of SOEs emphasized that the main focus now is ensuring Patrick Kluivert’s team makes maximum preparation to achieve the best results in the upcoming qualification round.
