Enzo Maresca criticizes FIFA after Chelsea vs Benfica match delayed due to weather

Enzo Maresca has issued strong criticism towards FIFA following the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 match between Chelsea and Benfica at Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte.

The match that should have proceeded normally — was forced to stop for two hours due to severe weather conditions at the 85th minute, after Chelsea had taken the lead through Reece James in the 64th minute.

After play resumed, Angel Di Maria equalized from the penalty spot in the 90+5 minute, but Benfica lost Gianluca Prestianni to a red card.

Chelsea ultimately secured a convincing 4-1 victory after scoring three additional goals within nine minutes in extra time through:
