England team prepares special protocols for hot weather in Zurich

Facing temperatures reaching 33 degrees Celsius in Zurich, coach Sarina Wiegman ensures that England’s women’s national team has implemented special protocols for their preparation against France this weekend.

The team known as the Lionesses has implemented several cooling strategies — from cold vests to ice boxes available during training sessions in the midday sun.

“We have protocols and strategies that senior players are familiar with because they’ve played in conditions like this. For new players, this is their first experience,” explained Wiegman.

The medical team provides several cooling facilities:

  • Cold vests
  • Ice boxes
  • Cold drinks
  • Ice towels
  • Cryotherapy

Wiegman emphasizes that the match schedule at 21:00, 18:00, and 21:00 local time — means the hot weather isn’t a major issue that will affect her team’s strategy against France.
