England and Sweden Set for Epic Euro 2025 Quarter-final Clash

The Euro 2025 quarter-final between England and Sweden at Letzigrund Stadium, Zurich — promises an exciting battle between two European women’s football powerhouses.

Sarina Wiegman’s team secured their place in the last eight after thrashing Wales 6-1, accumulating 11 goals throughout the group phase. Despite early tournament struggles, the Lionesses have now hit their peak form.

Sweden completed the group stage flawlessly, including an impressive 4-1 victory over Germany. The Scandinavian side has recorded the best defensive record, conceding just one goal.

Sweden’s key player, Stina Blackstenius — who scored Arsenal’s winning goal in May’s Champions League final — will be the main threat to England’s defense.

“Stina is an incredibly powerful footballer. She’s really intelligent with her runs. She’s a great player and she has been for many years,” said England captain Leah Williamson.

The teams last met in Euro 2022 semifinals with England claiming a decisive 4-0 victory, but their two subsequent meetings ended in draws. Overall, Sweden leads with five wins compared to England’s three.
