Eng Hian evaluates men’s doubles failure at 2025 Asian Junior Championships

Eng Hian, Head of Development and Achievement at PBSI, immediately conducted an evaluation of Indonesian men’s doubles team’s failure at the 2025 Asian Junior Championships held at GOR Indoor Manahan, Solo.

Despite Indonesia securing five medals overall — the junior badminton team’s achievement was tarnished by the absence of medals from the men’s doubles sector, which has traditionally been a stronghold.

Indonesia’s sole gold medal was claimed by Moh Zaki Ubaidillah who defeated Chinese representative Liu Yang Ming Yu in the men’s singles final.

The failure of Ikhsan Lintang Pramudya and Devin Artha Wahyudi pair — previously trusted in team events — drew particular attention as they were eliminated earlier than expected.

Of the five contested categories, only men’s doubles and women’s singles failed to contribute medals for Indonesia — a disappointing result considering Indonesia’s strong tradition in men’s doubles.
