Emmanuel Petit: Lamine Yamal can surpass Messi’s Ballon d’Or record

Former Barcelona and France national team midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, has shared his thoughts on Lamine Yamal‘s potential to break Lionel Messi’s record of eight Ballon d’Or trophies.

The 17-year-old wonderkid — who has Moroccan heritage — has proven himself as the best young player currently with impressive performances at both club and national team levels.

Under coach Hansi Flick‘s guidance last season, Yamal recorded remarkable statistics — 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions — contributing to Barcelona’s domestic treble success.

Previously, the right-winger had also demonstrated his potential under Xavi Hernandez with 7 goals and 10 assists from 50 matches in his debut season as a Barcelona regular.
