Elkan Baggott’s position threatened after Ipswich Town signs new defender

Elkan Baggott’s future at Ipswich Town faces new challenges — the Championship club has brought in an additional center-back ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Despite having his contract recently extended following The Blues’ relegation from the Premier League, the 22-year-old Indonesian national team player now must compete with four other senior defenders.

Manager Kieran McKenna currently has three experienced center-backs — Jacob Greaves, Dara O’Shea, and Luke Woolfenden who are ready to compete for starting positions.

Although the Championship schedule is packed with 46 matches per season, club management has decided to strengthen the defensive line to enhance promotion chances to the Premier League.
