Elkan Baggott Recalls Historic Moment with Indonesia

Elkan Baggott, Blackpool defender currently on loan from Ipswich Town, shared his experience with the Indonesia national football team. Before turning 22, he had already earned 22 caps for the national side.

Speaking on the Sherbert Lemon podcast, Elkan Baggott reflected on the most memorable moment in his career:

“I would say perhaps the most important match I’ve ever played was when I played for Indonesia. (2023 AFC Asian Cup) That was the first time we qualified for the Asian Cup in 30 years.”

However, this statement needs some clarification. In fact, the Indonesia national football team last appeared in the Asian Cup in 2007, about 18 years ago—not 30 years, as mentioned.

Now, the tall defender is starting to earn regular minutes as a starter for Blackpool, a club competing in League One, the third tier of English football.
