Eight teams remain in Euro 2025 – Spain still favorites to win

Eight strongest teams have secured their places in the Euro 2025 quarter-finals taking place in Switzerland. Spain — who recorded three perfect wins in the group stage — remains the strongest candidate to lift the trophy.

Host nation Switzerland faces a stern test after being drawn against Spain in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Italy received a more favorable draw against Norway — a team that also recorded a perfect record in the group stage.

On the other side of the bracket, intense matches will feature:

  • France vs Germany
  • England vs Sweden

England — the defending champions who struggled early in the tournament — now has a great chance to reach the final after demolishing Netherlands 4-0. Their position in the lighter bracket provides a distinct advantage.

“After the loss to France, the question was whether we would even make it out of the group stage. But now the narrative has changed about our chances of going far,” said the England coach.

The eight teams eliminated after the group stage were Wales, Iceland, Denmark, Portugal, Poland, Finland, Belgium, and Netherlands — with Wales setting a poor record of conceding 13 goals in their tournament debut.
