EDG Bow Out of Valorant EWC 2025 After Decisive Loss to Gen.G

EDG, the VCT China representative, has been eliminated from the Valorant EWC 2025 playoff race following a huge loss to Gen.G in their final group stage match. This left no Chinese teams to compete for the title.

This also marks the only series where two teams faced each other twice during the group stage. The VCT Champions 2024 winners had previously suffered a heavy 4-13 defeat against the very same squad in a BO1 match on the opening day.

EDG had briefly overtaken the South Korean powerhouse for second place in their group after defeating VCT Americas favorites 100 Thieves. Meanwhile, Gen.G had slumped to third following a loss to Fnatic.

Despite these previous results, the power difference between the two teams was undeniable in their decisive match. Though EDG entered with renewed spirit, Gen.G proved superior in both strategy and mechanical skill – attributes that have troubled even top opponents in crucial matches.

Gen.G dominated both maps. Overcoming minor technical issues, they stifled EDG’s resistance for a 13-8 win on Lotus and then raced to a swift 13-4 victory on Haven to close the series. Team captain Kim “t3xture” Na-ra stood out with his inspiring aggressive play, especially in the late game.

EDG becomes the last VCT China team to exit the tournament, following the earlier eliminations of BiliBili Gaming (Group A) and XLG (Group B). Meanwhile, Gen.G now advances to the playoffs and joining Paper Rex as the VCT Pacific representatives.
