Eddie Howe has officially returned to lead Newcastle United‘s training sessions after recovering from pneumonia, which previously required hospitalization.

In his absence, assistant coaches Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones took charge of the team for the past three matches, securing two wins against Manchester United and Crystal Palace, while suffering a 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Newcastle United currently sits fifth in the Premier League standings, trailing Chelsea by just two points as they continue to push for a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Howe is expected to return to the dugout for this weekend’s crucial clash against Ipswich Town — a match that could also determine the visitors’ relegation fate in the Championship.

“Newcastle United is pleased to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to duty at the club’s Training Centre,” read the club’s official statement.
