Dutch coach Van Gastel acknowledges adaptation challenges at PSIM Yogyakarta

Jean-Paul van Gastel, the Dutch coach who recently joined PSIM Yogyakarta, is undergoing an intensive adaptation process ahead of the Liga 1 competition.

During his first training session with the team on July 2, Van Gastel revealed his initial situation — “Honestly, I didn’t know about (PSIM),” he stated. “What’s important now is that Indonesian football is getting attention.”

Though initially unfamiliar with PSIM Yogyakarta when receiving the offer — the Dutch coach has since studied the club’s history and background thoroughly. His interest in the development of the Indonesian national team, which has gained attention in the Netherlands, became one of the factors influencing his decision to join the club.
