Dutch Clubs Refuse to Release Two Players for Indonesia U-23 National Team

National Team Committee Chairman Sumardji clarifies the absence of two young Dutch-Indonesian players — Tim Geypens and Dion Markx from the Indonesia U-23 National Team squad under Gerald Vanenburg.

PSSI has sent official call-up letters to both Dutch clubs that host these 19-year-old players. Tim Geypens who plays for FC Emmen and Dion Markx who represents TOP Oss — were not released by their clubs to join the national team.

“We have sent call-up letters to the clubs of Dion Markx and Tim Geypens,” stated Sumardji on Wednesday (18/6).

The main reason for the rejection is that the ASEAN Cup U-23 2025 is not included in the official FIFA agenda — therefore clubs have no obligation to release their players for this tournament.
