Ducati Manager Reveals Reasons for Defeat to Quartararo in Jerez

Ducati Team’s Performance Breakdown in Jerez

In the aftermath of the 2025 MotoGP race at Jerez, Ducati Lenovo Team Manager Davide Tardozzi offered an in-depth analysis of his team’s performance, particularly why they fell short against Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo.

Despite solid performances from star riders Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, Ducati could not outpace Quartararo, who secured a commanding win for Yamaha on the YZR-M1.

Marquez’s Close Call in Qualifying

Marc Marquez narrowly missed out on pole position during qualifying, finishing just 0.033 seconds behind Fabio Quartararo. According to Tardozzi, Marquez focused heavily on adjusting the front end of his Desmosedici to adapt to the track’s technical demands.

Bagnaia’s Struggles in the Main Race

Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia had to settle for a third-place finish in the main race. He remained stuck behind Quartararo for the majority of the 25-lap contest and was unable to find an overtaking opportunity.

Tardozzi’s Analysis of the Defeat

Davide Tardozzi acknowledged Quartararo’s dominance and credited the Yamaha rider’s consistent pace and tire management.

“We came very close, but Quartararo had the edge in both qualifying and race pace. Marquez made excellent progress, but we still need improvements on corner entry and balance,” said Tardozzi.

Looking Ahead: Ducati’s Strategy Moving Forward

Ducati is now looking to regroup ahead of the next round. Tardozzi emphasized that the team is focusing on refining race strategy and optimizing the Desmosedici’s chassis setup to counter Yamaha’s growing form.
