Drama at Pocono: 23XI Racing Team Faces Fatal Brake Issues

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Circuit ended tragically for 23XI Racing team — two of their cars were destroyed due to serious brake issues.

Riley Herbst experienced the first incident on lap 41 when his No. 35 Toyota hit the barrier wall. Initially suspected as a tire failure, it was later confirmed that his car’s brake system had completely failed.

Just 13 laps later, a similar fate befell Bubba Wallace with an even more severe crash — the brake rotor on his No. 23 Toyota suddenly exploded.

“When I went to hit the brake pedal, it just went straight to the floor and exploded. I hate this, we’ve had several good races in a row and bad luck strikes again,” Wallace stated.

Tyler Reddick, their remaining teammate, brought his car to the pit for brake inspection to avoid a similar incident. He managed to finish the race but only in 32nd position.

Both drivers involved in the crashes escaped serious injury, but Wallace and Herbst each collected only one point — finishing in positions 36 and 37 respectively.
