Li Shi Feng Injured, Only 3 Seeds Left at Tokyo Open 2025

At the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Li Shi Feng — the fifth seed from China — was forced to retire due to injury during his match against Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan.

Li won the first game 21-17, but suffered an injury in the second game, forcing him to withdraw while trailing 3-11.

Two other seeds also narrowly escaped early exits:

• Shi Yu Qi was taken to a rubber game by Ng Ka Long Angus
• Alex Lanier barely edged past Alwi Farhan in a 72-minute battle

Out of the eight seeded players in men’s singles, only three remain:

• Shi Yu Qi
• Alex Lanier
• Kodai Naraoka (home favorite)
