The Alpha group stage of VCT Pacific 2025, which concluded yesterday (21/04), held no surprises as Boom Esports claimed a decisive victory over Detonation FocusMe —a lackluster match-up that left Kazakhstani controller Dastan ‘Dos9‘ Zhumagali unimpressed.

Entering their final match, the Hungry Beast had already stamped their authority on Group Alpha. Their players, riding a wave of blistering form, were tipped to deliver a flawless run—and they did not disappoint.

While DFM clawed back briefly in Game 1, showing flickers of resistance, Boom’s tactical precision and icy composure snuffed out any hope of an upset. The 2-0 scoreline was less a contest and more a coronation.

Yet, for a team that hasn’t tasted a defeat in the group stage, satisfaction is in short supply. And in an interview with Valo2Asia, it was obvious that they were unsatisfied and now eager for greater challenges.

“I don’t know, to be honest, it was a very boring game. I don’t know what was happening on the map. I think for us as well, we just secured first seed,” Dos9 chuckled.

Head coach Sam “Fields” Greenfield echoed the sentiment, emphasizing their desire to gain experience by facing stronger opponents. He specifically highlighted Gen.G Esports, who recently revamped their roster, as an exciting potential matchup.

Boom Esports will start their VCT Pacific 2025 playoffs run in the semifinals in five days. They will have to wait for the outcome of the Talon Esports versus Gen.G Esports match to determine their next opponent.
