Janice Tjen Claims Double Victory at ITF W35 Luzhou 2025, Signaling a New Era for Indonesian Tennis

Janice Tjen, one of Indonesia’s most promising tennis players, delivered a powerful statement on the international stage by winning both the singles and doubles titles at the ITF W35 Luzhou 2025. This remarkable achievement showcases not only her individual brilliance but also her growing consistency in international competitions.

In the singles final held on Sunday (15 June), Janice—seeded second in the tournament—put on a commanding performance to defeat Chinese player Fangzhou Liu in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. This marked her first-ever win over Liu, who has previously played in WTA events and held a much higher ranking.

“Couldn’t have asked for a better week. Taking home the singles and doubles titles at W35 Luzhou!” Janice shared in a celebratory post on her social media account following the final.

Seamless Partnership with Priska Nugroho

Just a day earlier, on Saturday (14 June), Janice partnered with fellow Indonesian tennis standout Priska Madelyn Nugroho to secure the doubles title. The duo defeated Japan’s Saki Imamura and Ikumi Yamazaki in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, with excellent net coordination and baseline coverage.

“Happy to be on court with @priskanugroho, let’s keep fighting for more,” Janice captioned a joyful on-court photo of the two, following their victory.

This Luzhou win solidified the growing chemistry between Janice and Priska, who have begun to establish themselves as a formidable doubles pair on the ITF Women’s Circuit.

Rising Momentum and Match Consistency

The twin victories in Luzhou mark the continuation of Janice’s breakout 2025 season. She advanced through the singles draw without dropping a single set, demonstrating tactical maturity and physical fitness throughout the week.

Her consistency and determination have paid off across several tournaments. Just weeks earlier, Janice claimed the ITF W15 Maanshan singles title, where she also reached the doubles final with Priska. In May 2025, the ITF recognized her performance by naming her the World Tennis Tour Player of the Month, with a stellar record of 16 wins and only 2 losses across that month alone.

Consistent Success Across Asia

Janice’s recent success in Luzhou adds to her already impressive list of 2025 achievements. She previously won two W35 titles in South Korea—one each in Goyang and Andong—while also reaching the singles final and winning the doubles event in Goyang. These results show that she is more than a one-tournament wonder; she’s becoming a regular fixture at the top of the ITF circuit.

Inspiring the Next Generation: Indonesian Tennis on the Rise

Janice Tjen’s success is a beacon for the future of Indonesian women’s tennis. Alongside Priska Nugroho—also a multiple ITF titleholder and national team regular—Janice is redefining expectations for Indonesian players on the international stage.

Their consistent performances signal a turning point. They’re not just competing—they’re winning. The duo’s breakthrough suggests real potential for future Grand Slam appearances, WTA breakthroughs, and national representation in events like the Billie Jean King Cup.

As the 2025 season progresses, Janice’s growing confidence and championship pedigree put her well on track to break into the WTA Top 200—and perhaps beyond.
