Diego Leon ready to fight for spot in Man United’s main squad

Diego Leon has officially joined Manchester United following a £7 million transfer deal from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno. The Red Devils announced the signing on Saturday afternoon.

The 18-year-old wing-back — who had agreed to the move during last winter’s transfer window — recorded 33 appearances and 4 goals with his former club.

Manchester United plans to integrate Leon through their academy team — a step taken to aid his adaptation process in England.

“As a developing young talent, Diego will be supported by our first team and academy while he adjusts to life in Manchester,” reads the club’s official statement.

The Paraguayan player has signed a five-year contract — with strong determination to prove himself during pre-season to earn a place in the main squad.
