NEC Nijmegen has announced the appointment of Dick Schreuder as the club’s new head coach for next season, replacing Rogier Meijer, who will step down at the end of this campaign.

The elder brother of former Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Goffertstadion until 2028 — a move that could impact the future of Indonesian national team defender Calvin Verdonk at the club.

The 53-year-old brings substantial experience from the Dutch league, having managed PEC Zwolle for two seasons. After his time in the Netherlands, Schreuder took charge of Spanish side Castellón, successfully leading them to promotion to the second division before being dismissed in January this year.

Meanwhile, Meijer, who announced his departure in March, remains responsible for guiding Verdonk and his teammates through the rest of the current campaign.

As NEC Nijmegen plans ahead under Schreuder‘s leadership, attention now turns to how his arrival could shape the squad’s future — especially for key players like Verdonk, whose performances have attracted growing interest.
