Di Giannantonio Crashes While Leading German GP

Fabio Di Giannantonio’s hopes of a podium finish were dashed after a crash ended his German MotoGP race at the Sachsenring Circuit — the Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider went down while holding second position.

The Italian rider had been performing strongly, opening up a one-second gap over Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing, but his chances vanished after losing control at Turn 1.

“Not much changes with many riders crashing,” Di Giannantonio told Crash.net.

“I really wanted to finish the race in a special way.”

This result halts the positive momentum for the rider known as Diggia, who had previously secured two third-place podium finishes this season — at the Grand Prix of the Americas and the Italian GP.
