Denny Hamlin Claims Third Victory of the Season at Michigan

Denny Hamlin secured his third victory of the season in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway — cementing his dominance with brilliant fuel strategy.

The “Joe Gibbs Racing” driver started the restart from the back of the top 10, but managed to break through the front runners while rivals tried to save fuel. Hamlin took the lead with four laps remaining.

RFK Racing recorded their best result of the 2025 season by placing three cars in the top 10:

  • Chris Buescher finished second
  • Ryan Preece ninth
  • Brad Keselowski tenth

William Byron who led 98 of 200 laps suffered unfortunate luck — running out of fuel one lap before finish and dropping to 28th position. Meanwhile, Carson Hocevar lost his chance at his first victory due to a cut tire while leading the race.

Before the race began, Ram announced their return to the NASCAR Truck Series for the 2026 season. The announcement was marked by a Ram 1500 concept car performing burnouts on the front stretch at Michigan International Speedway.

“I think I just murdered a squirrel getting into my pit box,” said Ty Dillon over team radio after an incident with a squirrel crossing pit lane during pit stops.
