Defending Indonesia Open Champions Eliminated by Fellow Countrymen

The Indonesia Open 2025 men’s doubles competition witnessed a surprising turn of events as the defending champions were eliminated early at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang Exit in Round of 16

The fourth-seeded Chinese pair, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang, became the only defending champions who failed to advance to the next round. They were defeated by their fellow countrymen, Huang Di/Liu Yang, in the round of 16.

Other Defending Champions Advance to Quarterfinals

From last year’s Indonesia Open defending champions:

  • Shi Yu Qi (men’s singles)

  • Chen Yu Fei (women’s singles)

  • Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang (men’s doubles)

  • Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee (women’s doubles)

Only Liang/Wang failed to maintain their momentum. The other three defending champions successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of this prestigious BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.
