Davide Ancelotti ready to lead Botafogo as head coach

Davide Ancelotti — son of Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti — will soon be introduced as Botafogo’s head coach, according to ESPN sources.

The 35-year-old coach has signed a contract with the Brazilian club until December 2026 — this will be his first experience leading a senior team after previously serving as assistant coach at several elite European clubs.

Before joining Botafogo, Davide Ancelotti built his career as an assistant coach alongside his father at:

  • Bayern Munich
  • Napoli
  • Everton
  • Real Madrid

Botafogo owner John Textor made the young Ancelotti his top candidate to replace Renato Paiva — who resigned after a 1-0 defeat to Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16.

Botafogo currently sits eighth in the standings, six points behind league leaders Flamengo, and Ancelotti’s first match with the team could take place this weekend against Vasco da Gama.
