D.C. United Terminates Contract with Coach Troy Lesesne

D.C. United has announced the termination of head coach Troy Lesesne following the team’s disappointing performance in MLS competition.

During his tenure that began in early 2024 — replacing Wayne Rooney — Lesesne managed only 18 wins, 26 losses, and 17 draws across all competitions.

The team currently sits in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with 4 wins, 10 losses, and 7 draws — 9 points away from the playoff zone.

“We want to thank Troy for his dedication over the last two seasons,” said Ally Mackay, D.C. United’s General Manager. “After internal discussions, we have decided to part ways and go in a different direction as a club.”

Management has also dismissed assistant coach Zach Prince and appointed academy director Kevin Flanagan as interim coach while searching for a permanent candidate who aligns with the club’s long-term vision.
