Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi mourn the passing of Diogo Jota

Liverpool’s Portuguese star Diogo Jota has died in a car accident in Zamora, Spain — just 12 days after his wedding.

The tragedy occurred when the Lamborghini driven by Jota and his brother Andre Silva experienced a tire burst while overtaking at kilometer 65 of the A-52 road near Sanabria — resulting in a fatal accident on the left side of the road.

“We were just together in the national team, you just got married,” wrote Cristiano Ronaldo on Instagram.

The departure of the player who recently helped Liverpool secure their 20th English league title received condolences from various world football stars — including Lionel Messi who also paid his final respects.
