Cristiano Ronaldo absent from Diogo Jota’s funeral after Spain tragedy

The football world mourns the sudden passing of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota in a traffic accident in Spain.

The tragedy occurred at kilometer 65 of the A-52 highway near Zamora — the Lamborghini carrying Jota and his brother suffered a tire burst while overtaking another vehicle. The luxury car went off course and caught fire with no survivors.

The funeral service took place in the northern Portuguese city of Gondomar — attended by teammates from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool who helped carry the coffin. Several Portugal national team players also paid their last respects, however Cristiano Ronaldo was notably absent from the ceremony.
